P90X Day 2 – Plyometrics X – Wow!
3 Nov
So Day 2 of the P90X Program – Plyometrics X, or the mother of all P90X workouts says the DVD, was significantly harder than Day 1. Not just because the exercises were harder, but also because I was so sore from Day 1. But as much as I was struggling (even the instructor struggled on this routine) I made it through. The soreness went away after I got some blood flowing and I caught a nice second wind about 30 minutes through.
The Plyometrics X routine was a lot different than Day 1 – Chest and Back. This one consisted of entirely body weight driven leg exercises and agility exercises. There were no bands or weights used at all. There was a lot of jumping around, squatting, and jumping back around. It reminded me of football agility drills. The exercises were short and intense, lasting no longer than a minute each, and put a heavy focus on cardiovascular health. Breaks were no longer than 30 seconds each.
I come from a golf fitness and muscle building background, so I’ve never had a high level of cardio. This one really made that show. I was huffing and puffing pretty good just about 10 minutes in, my legs were on fire, and I had to hit pause a few times to say the least, but I was determined not to give up, and I didn’t.
And you shouldn’t either. If you find yourself wanting to give up on a set or on a routine, remind yourself of your goals. Why are you doing what you’re doing? Giving up or quitting will only lengthen the amount of time it will take you to reach those goals. Push your muscles to near exhaustion. It will hurt, but it’s not really that bad. And it’s a good hurt. Just keep telling yourself that you’ll get a break soon and you’ll be ok.
Then sip some water, towel off and do it again.
Do Your BEST, and Forget the Rest.
Now get off your butt and go work out!
